Do You think it is fair on the Horse we are supposed to Love, to be swinging off their Mouths for only negative reasons????? Take a look at the Faces on most of them!!!! Are You an ‘English Discipline Rider’? Is your Horse ‘on the bit’? Correctly ‘on the bit’? I write this to make you think. To think about your adequacy in putting [...]

This has been the secret to my success, career and the protection of my Bones. THE CAUSE & FIX OF THE ‘REIN SNATCHER’

May 17, 2024 Rein contact at the Halt

These horses frustrate the hell out of me and no doubt the rider’s aboard them, but we can never blame the Horse. Why does it happen and how can we fix it? It isn’t easy. The term ‘Resistance‘ sure describes this habit but what causes it?  There are all sorts of forms of resistance and this is yet another one. When the young horse is broken in, hopefully it knows not to be resistant and only gradually, due to the inexperience of riders’ does it learn the various forms of it. The more I think about this subject the […]

Horse Feeding Time Rules and the many dangerous outcomes!!

May 5, 2024 Horseproblems Australia
Hi Folks, Horses are eternal triers and feeding time is where your pecking order in the Herd is assessed and established. In their Herd, that includes biting and kicking and this can include You!!!! Trust me, if you want to stay safe in Horse Ownership, establish a feeding time ritual. That includes: Making the Horse Stand off until you have completely mixed the food in the bowl. 'Stand Off' means at least 8 metres. Take a long whip, plastic bag on a pipe or any other frightening object, to re-train. Once mixed, stand DIRECTLY between the Feed Bin and the [...]

April 30, 2024 Dressage Horse Rehab

An Article just about the Veterinary and Muscular Rehab of Race Horse – PRIOR TO RIDING!!! This is a massive subject and difficult not to get wrapped up in the many varying issues that these Horses can have, however, this article is about the PREPARATION of the ex Race Horse, for Equestrian Competition. I have particularly in mind, the many 40 something Owners (most who do not have many more ‘go rounds’ in them). This Article is aimed at the following: Too often, new Owners who know no better, just jump on and go about trying to make these completely […]

Equine Science Training Systems

October 4, 2020 Dr. Paul McGreevy

Your Horse Industry is being taken over by stealth and You may not know it. There is a Master Plan that has been laid out, by the Scientific Community, to take control of the Industry and to replace 200 Years of History in Training, with the new future, that of Equine Science Training Systems. You will see my motivation for writing this article as You read through but the primary motivation is the genuine concern about the diminishing of Horse Training and Risk Management systems, throughout the Industry and the insult to the great Horse Trainers of the last 200 […]

Meadow Hay and Weeds

December 6, 2019 Barley Grass damage to the Horse

MEADOW HAY I recently walked into a Stable on my property and saw 150mm thick of pure ‘Barley Grass’ Seeds lying on the Floor. I looked in the Tack Shed and there were 30 Bales of pure ‘Barley Grass’, a weed that has no nutrition, destroys established pastures and the seeds of which bury themselves into the gums of the Horse and can even come all the way through and burst outside the face. I immediately banned the Owner of the Horse from feeding it and asked her to remove it from the Property. She advertised it and it was […]
