Peer Review – Evidence based Horse Training

July 31, 2019
Hi Folks, I am extremely concerned, that 200 Years of the knowledge base that has produced the Worlds best Horse Trainers, is to be soon lost, hijacked by stealth.   Evidence based Horse Training??? There is no such thing.....why.....because Scientists are not qualified to review such things, the only evidence they have is their own and one has to have had a Life time of Thousands of Horses, to prove it and examine the subject.   Over the last 10 Years, driven by 2 Australian Scientists, there has been a concerted effort to hijack the Starting of Horses skills, as [...]

Scientists and Monty Robert’s Dually Halter

December 10, 2018

10th December, 2018 The Horse Scientists have have just released a study into the ‘Dually Halter’, designed and patented by Monty Roberts. They had previously studied his ‘join up’ system. THE RESULTS ” Use of a Dually pressure headcollar does not result in more compliant behaviour by horses that have not worn it before, recent research has found. “ ” the Dually did not result in more compliant behaviour compared to the control group. “ ” but did not result in a stressed response, measured by infrared thermograpy “ As I have often said, Scientists are simply not qualified to […]

Peer Review – South Australian Mounted Police

October 11, 2017

Far be it for anyone to comment on a Mounted Cadre however, in 2018, Horses have to start getting a fair deal. 2018 is my Year of provoking thought and re-flexion.   These Photos ( which I took off the TV News recently) depict a continuing pattern of a style of Riding that comes directly form the British Horse Society and bring with it ‘Learned helplessness‘ and ‘sadness’ to Horses. This is no ‘one of’ for I see it 100% of the time I see these Folk. These shots show Officers scouring the OUTBACK!!!! during a Murder investigation ( looking […]

Peer Review – Pony Club Association of Australia

October 11, 2017

Don’t get me wrong. Pony Club is a wonderful institution but it let’s down Horses badly. It could be so much  better!   Pony Club is a direct clone of the British Horse Society, with all of the teachings and systems passed on, to it, the Military and the Police. The British Horse Society is a complete fail when it comes to ‘Horsemanship’ which translates to several things, all of which are missing form PC. Risk Management and yet, the teachings that come via this and the ‘Peer pressure’ within the movement, is the MOST potent and effective teaching […]

Peer Review – Equestrian Australia Code of Ethics

October 11, 2017

http://www.equestrian.org.au/sites/default/files/Equestrian_Australia_Code_of_Conduct.pdf ………   marvelous desires but sadly, only words.   At the twilight of my Career, forgive me for writing Articles to give those entering the Industry, an opposing view to the norm. I have been thinking of writing such an article, to inject into Google, to warn the vulnerable, for some time, now decided by the results of a Court Case that ended just recently.   THE CASE   A Lady ( approaching retirement Age) decided to “give it one last shot” and came up with a Plan that “if she spends big money, she will get a […]

Peer Review – Phillip Karl Training systems

October 11, 2017

HI Folks. I am a Career Horseman, not a Scientist. After a Career of helping Thousands of aggrieved Horses, my response to them this Year has been to write a handful of reviews of systems, as complained about to me by those Horses.  It is ironic indeed that those systems all have come from Scientific types of little or no ridden and competitive Dressage experience.   THE PHILIPPE KARL SYSTEM   Across the many Thousands of so called ‘Problem Horses’ that I have handled in my Career, Veterinary issues have been front and Centre as to their reasons for […]

Peer Review – Equestrian Australia – Ready Set Trot

October 11, 2017

To carry on with my 2017 New Year Resolution….to attempt to ‘level up the playing Field’ in Horse Training, here is another assault on the Day to Day Lives of Horses.   http://www.equestrian.org.au/Readysettrot   LISTEN TO YOUR HORSES   There are ‘Crack Pots’ all over the Internet and I might be one of them, but don’t listen to me, get a second opinion from the Horses in this Story.   “The Horse is never wrong and never lies” https://www.horseproblems.com.au/listen_to_your_horse.htm   There are articles all over my Website, about ‘Leading the Horse’ and yes, I may have a mental thing about […]

Peer Review – Dr. Andrew McLean

July 3, 2017

Horsemen don’t do Peer Reviews, they haven’t got time but after many Years and a lot of thought, noting that the Scientists often review Horsemen (Monty Roberts, Pat Parelli and myself) the time has come. I write this also, on behalf of the many Horses I meet, that have been Victims to this and other systems.   The Trigger for my writing this piece, is the fact that over the Years, I have met and had to fix, at least 20 ‘Rearing Horses’, several Bolters and seen many distressed and unhappy Horses, victims of the well meaning […]

Peer Review – Dr. Paul McGreevy

July 3, 2017

N.S.W. University of Equine Science – Professor Dr. Paul McGreevy. Take a look at this Video that popped up on my YouTube News.   With the advent of the Internet, everyone can be an overnight sensation and those who may have harbored the romantic notion of being a Horse Trainer, can have their wish granted with the flick of a switch. It has been a concern of mine for some Years now, that Scientist are often Peer reviewing Horse Trainers like Monty Roberts and others but no one has ever Peer reviewed a Scientist. Scientists are presently taking […]

The British Horse Society – a Peer Review

January 18, 2017

I can hear Ray Hunt and Tom Dorrence cheering me from their Grave   This article has been triggered by this Photo Today. (in Britain)         After attending to many thousands of so called ‘problem Horses’ in my long career and nearing the end of it, at the risk of shock and dismay and more, I have decided to review the foundational systems of the British Horse Society, that impact upon Horses across the World. At least 90% of all the thousands of aggrieved Horses that have come through my Hands, have been triggered by these […]

Sunday 25th March, 2018 Hi Folks. Hope You all had a good Week. Mrs. HP has had the whip out this Week and I have been riding a Bobcat that we hired, to trick up her Horse Yards before the wet, put new base in them, spread the composted manure and seed, remove all the Tree stumps out of the Foals Paddock and re-sand Her arena, amongst other things. She's a Happy Girl! 🙂
