Stopping the Bucking Horse

Hi Folks. Hope You are all well.

Busy as usual, Horses in and out and lot’s of fun. Cappo is loving his Paddock Life but we notice the “Biatch from Hell” is back on top 🙂

Mrs. HP’s Nose is starting to settle down but the Bruising has come out. Definitely broken but she comes from a diminishing number of not vein Women of the past 🙂 Thank God she isn’t Blonde 🙂

Gainsborough Soap

We have made a very difficult but conscious decision, that regardless of the financial cost, the new Social Media Driven anti Social behavior of many that reside in the Metropolis, will no longer tolerated. Any breach of Socially positive interaction with fellow Horse loving People at our Equestrian Centre, will see immediate ejection and if we have to empty the place, we will. We have done the sums in readiness and it will be a Home for spelling Race Horses. 🙁

It has never ceased to amaze us, that too many Horse Owners these Days, can’t get it through their Head that it all should be about having fun, loving their Horses, being at Peace and tranquility on a magnificent Property and away from the pressures of work and Life, but not so. I don’t understand it.

The other thing that I can’t understand, that Humans will put their Ego in front of their so called much loved Horse and carry on with risky Social Media type behavior and when it all gets too much, they will ‘do the March’ and spite their face, not realizing the hurt that they inflict upon their Horse, mostly moving to substandard digs and certainly with not the peace and tranquility of Gainsborough.

You wouldn’t believe what we have seen over the Years and I have Thousands of them written down, to entertain You for Years 🙂 Here is one of them:

THE SAND PADDOCK HITLER

She just couldn’t keep Her nose out of the comings and goings of the Sand run around Paddock, where People can put their Horse out for some fun, with some of their Mates. Of course such a Paddock must come with some Organization for you don’t want injuries and certain Horses must be segregated for the safety of the innocent.

She had this fettish of almost daily, throwing Her weight around as if the Property was Her’s and that she was in charge of the Sand Paddock. It was endless. Went on for 12 Months or more and then one Day, when she couldn’t bend the Young Mrs. HP, she decided she would take me on. I listened to Her presentation ( that went on for half an hour) and then said No.

The following Week, after much organizational stealth, she ‘did the Bunk’ and took with Her, around 50% of the Gullible other Agistees at a time when we were battling and interest rates were 12%. She moved to the Golden Grove Equestrian Centre but what she didn’t realize was the fact that there were bigger Bitches than Her, awaiting Her arrival. You can imagine the Hell that went on but after several Months, they actually drove Her out of the Property and she found Herself alone, with a 3 x 3 metre Stable, on an adjoining Equestrian Centre that had 18 Stables but where the Owner had recently stormed out of the House in a Drug crazed stupor and kicked the entire 18 out. ( I might take up Drugs 🙂

She was there for sever Months, with Her poor lovely lonely Horse who was a victim of Her Soap Opera and then one Day, my Phone rang………..”Hi John…..it’s J———-, I know there wouldn’t be any chance of my coming back to Gainsborough but would there be any chance?”………”No worries J, just keep Your nose right out of the Sand Paddock and we will get along fine”…….and so she came back for another 10 Years 🙂

“Think of Your lovely Horses Folks. Forget the Soap and take a listen to the Kookaburras and a look at the visiting Koalas. Life is too short”

Update – the “Paralowie Breaker” moves on.

Always sad to see a Bloke go. I don’t ever have many that I can relate to. Chris can’t take being picked on by the Woman any more :(……….remember Folks……it’s all about the Horses 🙁

Let’s hope the “Alpha Mares’ see the 4 new Agistees coming, in a Kind Light 🙁

The little Bucker

Of course there is always a reason. Horses don’t want to Buck and I have only met less than 5 out of a 1000 that are actually not nice People……here’s one I had here a few Years ago, I rode Him twice, rang the Owner in Melbourne to warn Her that she should not go on with Him, she dumps us as Friends and sent Him to a Breaker in NSW………for 12 WEEKS…………still Bucking 🙂 “Ya can’t bloody tell em” 🙂

but back to the Young Horse that we had the mis-understanding with last Week, where he bucked off his Owner and then Mrs. HP, in quick succession, not his fault.

This Week ( yes, 7 days later, just an hour a week on the job) he was a lovely Boy for Uncle John. 🙂

The Tree Huggers of the new Age

Prior to roughly 30 Years ago, when Pat Parelli Came to Town on his first trip, basically every single Horse started in the Country was “Leg Restraints Trained” but after the ‘Pentacostal’ revolution of the new NH, most of the Horse Trainers in the Country went and hid their equipment in the back room, never be to be seen again.

I then take complete credit for re-popularizing it, against the odds. ( Ironically seeing Pat get in the Poo in London, when all failed to Bridle a problem Horse, he reached for Leg Restraints, to the shock of the Crowds and Media. He would have got away with it if he had some Lessons on the sytems but alas, he had to produce a Video appols on Youtube. 🙂

Gradually, I wore them down as I re-designed systems to provide complete safety and protection for Horses and then gradually, confidence was restored in the training, which has seen Hundreds of Horses saved, just in my Circle, for that I am extremely proud. Here are just some, from clients.

anyhow, we have a new movement afoot, born via Social Media and Mob syndrome, where even I got lectured by a Rabbid Woman a couple of Weeks ago, just because a Horse had a Rope dragging off it. How many lives would she or any of them saved????…….well if any, it would pale into insignificance compared to how many we have saved……and then You add the lives of Humans saved ( including one just 2 Weeks ago)

So just lately, I have had 2 Professionals Trainers ring me, asking how I could advise them to get around the sudden resistance to this add on training to a Horse. They are finding Customer resistance and some push back.

Today, a phone call from a ‘Breaker’ for the most well known NSW Race Horse Trainer, asking the same questions and complaining bitterly as to how it has become a real problem. “They are Drugging the Race Horses, just to get shoes on them”!!!!!!….he exclaimed.

What would You say?

Farrier concerned about safety

Hi John Sorry it’s late! Please don’t feel like you need to reply outside of your usual business hours. My reason for messaging is; I’m wondering if I could come & spend some time learning from you in regards to your leg restraints & methods. Would you be interested in a student of sorts? Would you be willing to mentor me? I’m a hoof care practitioner & apprentice farrier, there are a few rank horses on my books, that are improving over time, but really do need to be sorted properly.

Mostly it’s an owner issue… I have followed your methods for a long time & have some of your awesome quality gear. I love the front leg strap & have gotten fabulous results with the horses I’ve used it on (including my own). I’m sick of getting smashed around & need to work smarter not harder. If I’m going to invest my time into fixing these horses & charge for it I feel that I need to be proficient & confident in the process & my ability.

When I come across hind leg issues I generally go straight into hindquarter yielding both directions until the horse works out it’s really easy to stand still on 3 legs. It’s effective but doesn’t stop those horses that really want to kick you. I scotch hobble ponies with rope & get brilliant results. It takes the kick right out of them. Usually only 3 sessions max & the issue has resolved.

Would this be something that would suit you? Obviously I don’t expect your time for free. And if you think I’m not up to your expectations or simply don’t click with me then let me know & I won’t come back & waste your time. I have the front leg strap, breaking collar, leg ropes, hind leg strap…. Thanks for your time John

I am consulting on a Court Case at the moment, where a Farrier was severely injured by a Warmblood, where the Owner hadn’t don’t the training job to protect the Farrier. It is NOT the job of Farriers to be fixing feral Horses. That is the job of Horse Trainers.

Unsound Horse

1. Debbie cotton bred this horse 20/9/2015 Sold him at 6 months 2 . Michelle Edwards bought him sold him to unknown buyer 3. M Pittman from drifting sands bought him in 2016 , sold him 4. Chelsea Paige Harper ( equine physioakey)bought him Dec 2019 , sent him to Kate Halliday to retrain ,advertised him in May 20 , 6.I bought him through my aushorse on the 4/7/2020 7. I sent him to Power Equestrian , multiple problems found through Horsemed . 8.He couldn’t canter , I was told he was very green and uneducated , I was happy with that as I just wanted a trail horse and thought I would take him to training days and educate him .I’ve only ever had TB s , I have a TB atm but she’s 21 ,I was looking at winding back as I’m mature aged and wanting something a little less explosive and to have fun on . 9. I contacted the previous owner and she said I should’ve got a vet check and it’s my bad luck , she’s a horse breaker she told me and broke him in herself but her mother told me she sent him to Kate Halliday as he wouldn’t canter , but now denies it . Hope this makes more sense

Well done Girl. You are doing a good job there. xx

Tip of the Day

“If one operates with any suspect Horses, in a Round Pen and those Horses are not “Leg Restraints Trained” it pays to pop a safety belt strap across the gap between each Round Pen Panel, just so that this doesn’t ever happen”

The Property Trasher

Just for your information my x Tenant Baddeley left my property with destroyed horse paddocks taking 18months to rectify at considerable cost .

He moved to 115 Church Road Springton David Whtye’s property destroyed horse paddocks and left house stinking of dog shit and cat piss.

Moved to beautiful property Lot 1 Piney Ridge Road Nairne weekly rent $1500, he moved from there in July 2020 owners Gillian and Stephen stated he left pasture totally weed infested, costly expense to rectify. Not forget States Park Equestrian Centre where he was evicted from,

and  Ann Jackson’s property Darby Lodge. No stopping this PARASITE from moving and destroying horse properties time and time again. At this stage I don’t know his new location to warn the new landowners.  My X Property Manager Hayley Marley Duncan continues to provide him with a glowing wonderful rental references.
